In 2002, the Northwest College Women’s Cross Country team put together a dream season, compiling a season win-loss record of 140-2 with their two defeats coming at the hands of NCAA Division I schools. The Eagle women won their third consecutive Cascade Conference crown, their second consecutive NAIA Region I crown, and capped the season off by winning the NAIA National Championship. In the classroom, the NC women earned NAIA National Academic Scholar team honors.
Six Women earned Cascade Conference first-team honors (led by Conference Champion Kim Stone), five earned NAIA Region I first team honors, and four earned NAIA All-American honors (led by Kristina Proticova’s fifth place national finish).
Head Coach Bill Taylor was named Cascade Conference, Region I and National Coach of the Year honors. Most importantly, these women were an amazing witness for Christ with their effort, character and sportsmanship. They drew national attention to Northwest College, and they are friends for life.
