Coach McIntosh begins his 12th season as men's soccer coach for the Eagles and also continues his responsibilities as Director of Athletics for NU.
McIntosh (B.A. San Diego Christian College, 1996; M.A. Azusa Pacific, 2002) was hired in 2003 to lead the Eagles soccer team. McIntosh came to Northwest University from southern California where he was the head coach for San Diego Christian College from 1998-2001.
Gary has led the NU soccer team to the playoff’s in 2008, '09, '11,’12,’13 and the conference semi finals in 2009 and 2011. He also named 2009 Cascade Conference Coach of the Year by a vote of the CCC coaches and CCC Co-Coach of the Year in 2011. Â
While at San Diego Christian College he collected three consecutive Coach of the Year awards for the NCCAA West Region, compiled a 40-19 cumulative record, and trained six NAIA All-Americans. McIntosh also served as an adjunct professor for Azusa Pacific University.
In the winter of 2006, McIntosh was hired to coach the Cascade Surge of the Premier Soccer Development League (PDL) which is part of the United States Soccer League and is based in Salem, Oregon and was hired again for the 2007 season. Five Eagle players, Micah Williams (Jr., Sacramento, CA), Kyle Veach (Oak Harbor), Trevor Uhler (Sr., Bothell) and Brian Swanson (So., Everett, WA) played for the Surge and lived in Salem that summer.
Summer of 2007 also included a Surge trip to South America as Coach McIntosh led the team to Peru and games in Lima and Iquitos. In their first game, Cascade defeated AELU, of the Peruvian 2nd Division, 1-0 in a "friendly" match in Lima. The Surge then tied the Amazon River Selection in Iquitos, Peru (0-0), in front of 20,000 soccer fans in the city's modern stadium in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon jungle town of 300,000. The soccer match kicked off the seven hour long River Festival (Festival de los Rio) that included, a variety of singing groups and entertainment all building up to featured speaker Mike Silva. Four of the Eagle players earned international caps, a prestigious symbol for a soccer player who plays in an international game overseas and is registered with the USA Soccer Federation. Micah Williams, Jason Hatcher, Kyle Veach and Trevor Uhler all earned caps on the team's trip to Peru. Coach McIntosh earned seven international caps during his days as a player. As a coach, McIntosh has a 2-0-1 record in international competition.
Gary and his wife, Laura, have three daughters (Morgan, 18; Ashlyn, 13; Shannae, 11) and one son, Kyler, 15.
