In their first game, Cascade defeated AELU, of the Peruvian 2nd Division, 1-0 in a "friendly" match in Lima. The Surge then tied the Amazon River Selection in Iquitos, Peru (0-0), in front of 20,000 soccer fans in the city's modern stadium in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon jungle town of 300,000. The soccer match kicked off the seven hour long River Festival (Festival de los Rio) that included, a variety of singing groups and entertainment all building up to featured speaker Mike Silva. Four of the Eagle players earned international caps, a prestigious symbol for a soccer player who plays in an international game overseas and is registered with the USA Soccer Federation.
