Eagles Pull Away to Defeat the Yotes

Jordan Asher's 21 tonight gives her 1,209 career points
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Aided by 58 percent shooting in the first half, Northwest University built a 15 point lead and would go on to post a 71-51 Cascade Conference victory over a cold shooting College of Idaho.
 
C of I would be limited to 28 percent shooting in both halves as the NU Eagles would hit 50 percent of their shots for the game. NU was led by senior guard, Jordan Asher's 21 points and 4 assists giving her 1,209 career points.
 
Holding onto a one point, 10-9, lead early in the first quarter, Northwest U would catch fire and outscore the visiting Yotes 15-2, to lead 25-11 at 2:18. With NU up by 12, 25-13, C of I's Kellie Ross would hit a 3-pointer with 27 seconds to go to close the gap to 25-16 as the quarter would end.
The two teams would battle back and forth in the second quarter, but Brianna Fiso's short jumper would make it a 42-28 game at halftime.
 
The College of Idaho's shooting woes would continue in the third and fourth quarters as they would only convert 2 of 11 3-point attempts and go 9 for 32 from the field. Northwest U wouldn't fare much better from 3-point range managing to hit 3 of 11 tries, but they would convert 11 of 27 field goal attempts.
 
A 3-pointer by NU's Kristen Frey would increase the Northwest U lead to 18, 58-40 at the 3:30 mark of the third quarter. Three straight free throws by the Yotes would make it 61-45 as the period would end.
 
In the final quarter, the College of Idaho would be unable to make up any ground and a Brianna Fiso jumper would push the NU lead to 71-44 with 2:54 left in the game. Jamiece Yizar's lay-in at 1:13 would end the scoring as Northwest U would post their sixth CCC victory of the season.
 
In addition to Asher's 21 points Northwest U (11-13, 6-8 CCC) would get 17 points from Brianna Fiso who added 9 rebounds. Freshman post Miranda Langenhorst added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double and Charmaine Bradford had a game high 7 assists. NU held a 48-38 edge on rebounding.
 
The College of Idaho (5-15, 4-10 CCC) was led by Petra Lumpert's 11 points. Kiara Skinner contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds while Jaycin Tini and Kellie Ross each score 6 points for the Yotes.
 
Northwest U remains at home and will host Eastern Oregon on Saturday night while the College of Idaho travels south to Olympia to take on Evergreen. Both games tip off at 5:30 p.m.
