Written by: Clayton Hashley

Salem, Ore. – Northwest University (2-0) beat the New Hope Christian Deacons (0-4) to round out their involvement in the Corban Classic Tournament. The score was 98-56, with five different Northwest players scoring double digits.

Hussayn Ford had another double-double tonight, getting a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds. Jaden Jenkins added 18, and Ryan Ricks had 12 on 4-7 shooting.

Northwest had huge advantages in points off turnovers, second chance points, and points in the paint. The Eagles only gave up 12 points in the paint for the entire game, scoring 56 points in the paint themselves. A 24-rebound advantage helped as well, allowing them to score 28 second chance points.

A 30-10 run late in the first half put the Eagles on top by 21 going into the second half. They never looked back from that lead, pouring in 51 points in the second half alone.

Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine commented, "Tonight was a test to see how we will respond playing back-to-back nights. We were tested early, and our young guys came in and gave us a spark. It was a great learning experience for us this weekend."
