KIRKLAND, Wash. – On the first day of the Eagle Classic tournament, all four teams came into the weekend undefeated. No. 20 Carroll College (6-0, overall) went on an 11-0 run to pull away from the Eagles in the last 5 minutes of the game to be the only remaining undefeated team.
In the first game of the night, Corban (6-1, overall) defeated University of Providence (4-1, overall) 96-87. Beau Roggenbach led the Warriors again with a double-double, 22 points and 13 rebounds. The first half ended with Corban having a narrow margin of 2 points, leading 41-39. The Warriors, making adjustments during halftime, quickly extended their lead by 19 points with 8 minutes left in the game. With help from Austin Starr, the Providence Argos fought their way back within 4 points and just 1 minute and 40 seconds on the clock. After fouls and free throws, the Warriors walked away with a 96-87 victory.
In the second game of the night, the Eagles were looking to bounce back after a slow start the night before. Northwest University (5-2, overall) played with a high level of energy starting when Arturo Palacios drained a three-pointer to start the game. Playing a very talented Carroll College, Northwest University found themselves trailing 4 points (34-30) at half. Northwest University was optimistic when they took the lead 59-58 with 3 minutes and 27 seconds left in the game. Then Carroll College, led by Matt Wyman, locked it down and scored the next 11 points. Wyman had 20 points and 4 rebounds on the night. Hussayn Ford contributed 19 points for the Eagles, and
Josh Meyer was right behind him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. The biggest difference in the game came with Carroll College scoring 18 points off turnovers, compared to Northwest University's 2 points.
