Eagles Poach the Walla Walla Wolves in Three Sets

Written by: Clayton Hashley

College Place, Wash. – Northwest University (6-9, 2-4 CCC) beat Walla Walla University (0-7, 0-6 CCC) in three sets to grab their second conference win of the year.

The Eagles got started early, using a 7-1 run in the middle of the first set to propel them to a 25-14 victory. The second set was more difficult, as the Wolves led 24-19 near the end of the game. The Eagles managed to come back, however, going on a 7-0 run to win the set 26-24. Northwest carried that momentum with them to the last set, in which they won 25-18.

Setter Courteney Carr had 29 assists for the Eagles, and Abigail Broussard seized a game-high four assists.
Northwest head coach Steve Bain explained, "Walla Walla played each point with great enthusiasm, and at times, we were challenged to match their intensity.  Still, even though we didn't get the results we wanted in every match over the last three days, we learned some valuable lessons. First and foremost, we learned that it doesn't matter who, when, or where you play in the CCC, you can expect a challenge every time you take the court."
