Northwest University Volleyball Bested by Corban University in Four

Written by: Clayton Hashley

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University (4-7, 0-2 CCC) continued their conference play with a home loss to the Corban Warriors in four games. After coming out slowly in the first game and losing a tight one in the second, the Eagles roared back with a third game victory, only to be bested in the fourth.

Northwest's best performance came in the third game as they jumped out to an early 9-1 lead, eventually finishing the game on a 7-0 run, which included two aces from Northwest's Courteney Carr.

The Eagles' trio of Keann White, Hannah Lord, and Tatiana Ensz, who each had 6 of the team's 32 kills, were no match for an impressive 54 kills from Corban.

Northwest University's head coach Steven Bain explained, "We knew going into tonight's game that Corban was an excellent team, and they proved it in the first set.  We simply had no answer for their energy and offensive firepower.  We were able to make a couple of adjustments between the first and second set, though that allowed us to slow down their offense, and that allowed us to establish some offensive rhythm and get back into the match.  I was also pleased with our resilience to bounce back and make a match of it.  A young team like ours could have easily quit in that situation, so hopefully we can build on the experience and continue to improve."
