Multnomah Falls to Northwest in Three

KIRKLAND – Northwest posted 11 blocks and a .453 attack percentage in sweeping Multnomah Friday, 25-11, 25-10, 25-14.

"First, you have to give credit to Multnomah," said NU Head Coach Steven Bain. "They have been hit with injuries to key personnel but have made good adjustments, and we knew they would battle for every point. Knowing that, our women stayed on task and did an excellent job of managing the game. We were especially pleased with our serve-receive, which kept us in system and allowed us to put a great deal of pressure on the MU defense. As well, we were strong from the service line, and that made our block and defense that much better. We know we have another tough test tomorrow and are looking forward to the challenge."

The Eagles took control early in the first set after falling behind 1-0. Hannah Michaels had two aces, and Kylie Szczepanski recorded a kill and a block with Hannah Lord in a 4-0 run for the 4-1 lead.

NU used another 4-0 run to build the lead to 10-4. Keann White had two kills in a third 4-0 run to give the Eagles a 22-9 bulge. Abi Broussard and Lord shared a block to end the game.

Northwest used a 5-0 run to take an early 6-2 lead in the second set and put the match out of reach with an 8-1 run for a 22-9 advantage. White ended the set with a kill.

Tatiana Ensz had three kills in a 7-1 NU run for an 8-3 lead in the third set. Emma Oates got the match-clinching kill.

Lord led the Eagles with eight kills, and White added seven. Courteney Carr put up 19 assists. Michaels and Cristina Hegarty had two aces apiece to lead the eight-ace night for the Eagles.

Broussard was in on seven blocks, with White getting in on five and Szczepanski four. Hegarty led the team with 11 digs.

Now 9-9 overall and 7-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles host Warner Pacific Saturday at 5 p.m.
