TACOMA – Northwest has a couple of players scoring 20 points but came up short at Puget Sound Saturday, 92-81.

Hussayn Ford had a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Christian Hakilimali added 21 points and seven assists.

Ryan Ricks and Tanner Davis also were close to double-doubles. Ricks had 17 points and eight rebounds, while Davis scored nine points to go with eight rebounds.

Northwest led by as many as six points in the first half, but Puget Sound caught up and closed out the half on a 7-0 run to take a 40-32 lead.

The Loggers led by 18 midway through the second half, but Hakilimali went on a personal 5-0 run to cut the UPS lead to 69-57 with 6:54 to play.

The Eagles got within 10 on four occasions in the last 90 seconds.

Now 4-4 on the season, NU begins Cascade Collegiate Conference action this weekend. Southern Oregon visits Friday, and Oregon Tech comes into the Kristi Brodin Pavilion on Saturday. Both games have 7:30 p.m. tips.
