Eagles Improve to 4-0

KIRKLAND – Northwest cruised to its fourth win, beating Salish Kootenai Saturday, 127-65, to finish the Northwest Classic.

Tre Newman came off the bench to score 23 points in 16 minutes to lead the Eagles, who finished with six players in double-figure scoring.

Ryan Ricks had 19 points, Cesar Sandoval added 17, and Tanner Davis, Hussayn Ford, and Jase Paulsen had 16 apiece. Ford got a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Christian Hakilimali had eight points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

"There are obviously things to work on but it was good to see players affect the game in a positive way," said NU Head Coach Jeff Drinkwine. "Dejwan Walker coming off the bench and getting eight rebounds and Tre had a great night offensively are nice things to see."

The Eagles set the tone with a game-opening 18-2 run and had a 39-8 run midway through the first half. Northwest led 68-22 at the intermission.

Ricks kept the crowd in it in the second half, canning three three-pointers in 49 seconds.

The Eagles led by as many as 68 points on two occasions in the second half.

Now 4-0, the Eagles play a home exhibition against Hawaii Pacific Wednesday at 7 p.m. and then hit the road to play Linfield College in Oregon Sunday at 7.
