EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest ran into a blazing Northwest Christian team Saturday night, dropping a 97-64 contest to finish the calendar year.
NCU shot 58 percent from the field and knocked down 10 of 22 three-point attempts.
The Eagles were able to keep pace through the first quarter, but the Beacons scored 33 points in the second quarter and led 57-31 at the half.
"We're not playing very good basketball right now," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "The Christmas break is coming at a great time. It'll give us a chance to reflect and recharge and then come back strong after the new year. Merry Christmas from the Lady Eagles!"
Jackie Bento made the most of her six shots, scoring a team-leading 11 points. Sam Van Loo had nine points and seven rebounds, Livi Lindsey had eight points and seven rebounds, and
Maya DuChesne had seven points and seven rebounds.
DuChesne and Andi Kristinat had five assists and two steals apiece.
Kaylen Kamelamela and Aspen Sifka had 21 points each for NCU.
The Eagles, now 2-10 overall and 1-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, return to action Jan. 3-4 in the Northwest Holiday Classic. Northwest plays Dickinson State Friday at 6 p.m. and Vancouver Island Saturday at 7.
