Caldwell, Idaho. – Despite their incredible first-round upset win, Northwest University (15-17) came up short againstnationally ranked College of Idaho (27-5) in the CCC Tournament Semifinal presented by U.S. Bank. The Eagles lost to the second-seeded Yotes with a score of 95-59.
Although the game went back and forth in the first ten minutes, the Yotes churned out a 29-8 run to take an 18-point lead in the first half. In the second, the Eagles managed to bring the score to within 12 points, but the Yotes continued to extend their lead, winning the game by 36 points.
The Eagles were led by Hussayn Ford, who tallied 22 points and 11 rebounds in the game, a fitting end to a year full of double-doubles—23 in the whole season!
Josh Meyer also contributed tonight with 14 points, but it was not enough, as the Eagles' season came to a close after the playoff loss.
Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine remarked, "This was a very resilient group. I couldn't ask for any more. We started the season with fifteen players but ended with eight. To get here after a first round playoff win to get to the second round has definitely shown growth in our program. I thank the seniors for all their hard efforts and look forward to coaching all the underclassmen in the years to come."
