Bellevue, Wash. – Northwest University (1-11) lost two more games on Saturday as the University of British Columbia (6-3) used two high-scoring seventh innings to complete their weekend sweep of the Eagles. The Eagles lost the first game 5-2 and were shut out in the second game, losing 9-0.

The day started out well for the Eagles, as Carly Tighe hit a single to center field in the second inning, which brought Ashley Oswald home to take an early 1-0 lead. Although the Eagles gave up a run in the third, they regained the lead in the fifth, as Alexis Contreras grounded out to send Sammi Caron in for the run. The lead slipped from their fingertips near the end, however, as the Thunderbirds executed to score four times in the last inning, taking the lead for good.

Perhaps having lost momentum after losing the lead in the first game, the Eagles came out in game two and were unable to find much success. The Thunderbirds hit a three-run homerun in the third inning and a grand slam in the last inning to score the majority of their runs. Seventeen hits from the Thunderbirds and a mere three hits from Northwest proved to be too much for the Eagles, as they lost 9-0.
Â
Rachel Hawley (0-5) pitched the first game for Northwest, getting four strikeouts in the game.
Isabella Gonzalez (1-2) pitched the majority of the second game.

Northwest head coach
Pam Fink remarked, "We did some things well today. The pitchers kept us in it, and our defense did better. Our focus is on being better than we were yesterday."
