PORTLAND – Trailing by 12 with two minutes left in the third quarter, Northwest rallied and captured a 77-72 overtime win at Multnomah Saturday.

The Eagles, who had not won a road game when they left Kirkland Friday morning, will return home with a two-game road winning streak.

With the Lions leading 50-38 with 2:00 remaining in the third period,
Maya DuChesne collected two steals and two baskets as part of a quarter-closing 7-4 run to make it a nine-point game heading into the final quarter.

Multnomah clung to a nine-point lead four minutes into the final frame before the Eagles could budge the scoreboard back their way.Â

DuChesne rang up a three-pointer, Livi Lindsey added two free throws, and Lexi Biggerstaff scored inside to bring NU to within 64-62 with 3:53 showing on the fourth-quarter clock. Biggerstaff also had two rebounds and an assist in that seven-point run.

MU got a pair of free throws and led 68-64 before Lindsey knocked down two free throws of her own with 1:31 left in regulation. Lindsey scored the game-tying basket with 51 seconds to go.Â

The Eagles missed a few opportunities to win the game in regulation as MU turned the ball over twice in the final 45 seconds.

DuChesne got a steal and a basket to start overtime. Multnomah evened the score with 3:10 remaining in the game, but Biggerstaff hit a free throw for a 71-70 lead on NU's next possession.

The NU defense stepped up with Lindsey and DuChesne getting back-to-back steals and baskets for a 75-70 lead with 70 seconds to go. DuChesne added two more from the free-throw line with six seconds left.

Lindsey and DuChesne led NU with 22 and 21 points, respectively, and that duo combined for 13 steals. DuChesne had seven and Lindsey six. Lindsey also led the team with four assists.

Sam Van Loo had seven rebounds to go with six points. Jackie Bento had nine points, and Biggerstaff finished with eight.Â

Campbell led the Lions with 23 points and 18 rebounds.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 6-13 on the season and move into eighth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with a 4-5 mark.

Northwest returns to action next weekend, entertaining front-running Northwest Christian Friday and Corban Saturday in a pair of 5:30 p.m. games in Kirkland.
