OLYMPIA – Northwest rallied from seven points down with 4:27 left in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime but ran out of gas in an 88-77 loss at Evergreen State Tuesday.
 
The seesaw battle tilted toward the Geoducks, 73-66, just past the midway point of the fourth quarter.
 
Livi Lindsey and Lexi Biggerstaff scored a field goal each, and Sam Van Loo added a rebound and a steal as the Eagles cut the lead to 73-71. Biggerstaff later delivered the lead to NU on a pair of free throws, 75-74, with 86 seconds to play in regulation.
 
The lead changed twice more before Angela Sikora made one of two free throws to knot the game at 77-77 with 28 seconds left in the fourth. Both sides turned the ball over once in the next 17 seconds, and both teams missed three-pointers in the final 10 seconds.
 
Northwest missed seven shots and committed five turnovers in the overtime period.
 
"That was a disappointing overtime loss tonight," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "We continue to make some of the same mistakes, and until we correct them and play with a little bit more poise and understanding of the game, we're going to have some frustrating nights. There's not much time to reflect with two more league games coming up this weekend. We'll get ourselves ready!"
 
Van Loo led the Eagles with 20 points and 11 rebounds, with Biggerstaff netting 18 points, five steals, and four assists.
 
Now 3-12 overall and 1-4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles return home Friday to battle College of Idaho at 5:30 p.m.
