NU Falls at No. 2 College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho – Second-ranked College of Idaho led wire-to-wire, handing injury-riddled Northwest an 87-66 setback Saturday.

The Eagles got double-double performances from Hussayn Ford and Christian Hakilimali but shot 35.6 percent from the field. Ford finished with 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Hakilimali had 13 points and 10 caroms.

Ryan Ricks added 13 points, and Kelvin Omojola added 11.

The Eagles had stayed close to the Yotes for 14 minutes of the first half, but CI closed the last six minutes on a 21-4 run to take a 46-25 lead into intermission.

Northwest trailed by as many as 34 points in the second half but chopped 13 points off that lead in the last 10 minutes of the game.

The Eagles, 16-10 overall and 11-6 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, host Evergreen State Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. Senior Night contest before finishing out the regular season with two games at Walla Walla next weekend.

Northwest needs a win in any of those three games or a Northwest Christian loss to seal a home playoff game. That first-round game would be Wednesday, Feb. 26.
