Eagles Struggle in California

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – Northwest could not stop the opposition in a pair of losses in California Saturday.
 
"It was a long, frustrating day in a lot of ways, but we have some things we can build on," said NU Head Coach Pam Fink. "We need to get home, get healthy, and get outside."
 
Menlo 9, Northwest 1
NU broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning when Sammi Caron singled and scored on a base hit by Alexis Contreras.
 
Menlo scored twice in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead and erupted for seven more in the fifth for the win.
 
The Eagles had five hits in the game, with Sam Parisio getting two and Abby Brake adding another.
 
Antelope Valley 10, Northwest 2
Northwest walked eight batters and had two errors.
 
The Eagles were down 5-0 before Jordan Dippel singled and eventually scored on an RBI single by Brake in the third inning.
 
Ashley Oswald singled and scored on a fly ball by Dippel in the fourth.
 
The Eagles had five hits, including two by Dippel and one each by Brake, Oswald, and Meli Memea.
 
The Eagles head to Arizona for eight games in three days next weekend.
