Knights Knock Off Eagles

KIRKLAND – Northwest led for much of the first half, but Warner Pacific's Gabrielle Bruno engaged her offensive prowess and led the Knights to an 87-73 win.

Bruno scored eight points in a 10-2 WPU run to close the first half and 11 more in a 15-0 run to start the second half to replace a seven-point NU lead with a 49-33 Warner advantage.

The Knights led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter.

Northwest found an answer in Sam Van Loo, who finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds, but that response was not enough. NU got as close as 10 points in the fourth quarter.

"We just didn't sustain what we had been doing," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "We were 3-of-19 during that span ending the second quarter and starting the third. It's still about learning. When that wave crashes over us, we need to stand like a rock instead of like a sandcastle."

Livi Lindsey added 11 points, and Maya DuChesne added 10. Lexi Biggerstaff led with six assists before fouling out.

Bruno finished with 40 points.

The Eagles dipped to 8-17 overall and 6-9 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Northwest travels to Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho next weekend.
