KIRKLAND – Northwest celebrated Senior Day and locked in the fourth seed in the conference tournament with a 1-0 overtime win Saturday over College of Idaho.

Kayla Soderstrom tapped the game-winner past the Yotes' keeper in the 97
th minute for the golden goal.

The College of Idaho had a strong but scoreless first half, launching 11 shots. The Eagles had a similar second half, getting nine shots but no goals.

Kierstin Patefield turned back to overtime shots on goal before Soderstrom ran down a leading kick from
Claire Jo Diede and punched the shot past a charging C of I keeper for the goal.

Patefield ended up with 10 saves in the game to collect her Cascade Collegiate Conference-leading eighth shutout of the season. She is tied for fifth nationally in shutouts.

It was even more special to achieve these results for the seniors, as they have given so much to this program over the years. We will enjoy this win and go into playoffs with confidence and a belief that we can beat anyone we face."

Northwest had 17 shots for the game, led by Diede with five and Soderstrom with four. That tandem also led the team with two shots on goal each.
Olivia Morris,
Callie Wright, and
Jennifer Conner also had one shot on goal apiece.

Northwest celebrated seniors Wright, Patefield, Taylor Beardmphl, and
Sarah Hansen after the win.

The Eagles finish off the regular season at 9-6-3 overall and 8-2-2 in the CCC. The Conference postseason launches Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Oregon.
