Eagles Shut Down Bushnell

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Northwest closed out the road portion of its regular season with a 3-0 win at Bushnell Saturday.

"We didn't play our best today, but we created a lot of opportunities and kept the shut out and got the result, which was the most important thing today, and I'm very proud of the effort given," said NU Head Coach Bryan Chud.

Grace Burke broke a scoreless tie in the 42nd minute pushing through a goal in a crowded box off a corner kick. Liv Lagerquist got the assist.

The score stood through the rest of the half and most of the second.

Callie Wright punched a shot over the reach of the Beacon keeper from the top of the box for a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute.

Claire Jo Diede got the honors for the third goal, finishing a nice pair of assists from Wright and Gracie VanAssche in the 85th minute.

NU outshot the Beacons 28-11 with Diede leading the way with nine shots. Wright had seven shots and Kayla Soderstrom launched five. The Eagles put 16 shots on goal. Wright and Diede led that category with six and five, respectively. Olivia Morris tested the keeper twice and Lagerquist, Soderstrom, and Burke had one shot on goal each.

Kierstin Patefield stopped three shots for the shutout win in goal.

Now 4-6-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles come home for a weekend set with Warner Pacific on Friday and Multnomah on Saturday. Both games begin at 3 p.m.
