KIRKLAND – Northwest improved to 2-0 at home and 2-3 overall with a 65-48 win over George Fox Sunday.

The Bruins came out strong defensively and led 13-9 going into the second quarter, but the Eagles found an offensive flow late in the second quarter.

With her team trailing 19-15,
Ellesse FitzGerald knocked down a three-pointer to ignite a 14-0 run to close out the half with a 29-19 lead. Five players scored in that spree, led by
Caitlin Monten with four points.
Livi Lindsey provided defensive help with two steals in the final 2:03.

Sam VanLoo delivered the largest lead of the third quarter with an assist from
Shelaine Lorenz for a 46-29 advantage with 6:21 to go.

George Fox got within 10 at one point in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles answered and led by as many as 19.

"We showed a lot of maturity today, said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "When things were going good, we took advantage of it. When things were going not-so-good, we kept our heads and played through it."

VanLoo led the Eagles with 17 points, and Lindsey tacked on 16. Lorenz had six assists, and
Maya DuChesne passed for four.

Lindsey and Lorenz led the rebounding effort with five each, while Lindsey added four steals.

NU shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range for the game.

The Eagles return to action Friday and Saturday with home games against Multnomah.
