Â
"This was a real win by committee tonight," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "I think our depth made a big difference. Warner Pac gave us all we could handle on their home court, and I was pleased with the way that we showed patience and perseverance when things were not going so well."
Â
The Eagles shot 54 percent from the field, including an 8-for-19 night from three-point range.
Â
Meza hit back-to-back three-pointers to give NU a 16-6 lead midway through the first quarter.
Â
The Knights rallied back to take a 43-38 lead at halftime.Â
Â
WPU led by as many as 10 points on two occasions in the third quarter, but Northwest closed out with a 17-6 run, including four points by Monten. The Eagles led 60-59 going into the final quarter.
Â
Still clinging to a two-point lead with 5:33 to play, Northwest's defense stiffened and grabbed four turnovers down the stretch.
Â
Monten had her last four points in an 11-2 run to give the Eagles an 82-71 lead with 1:45 to play.
Â
Northwest returns to action Friday with a trip to Pacific University.
