NU Gets Third Consecutive Shutout

PORTLAND – Northwest scored a 2-0 road Cascade Collegiate Conference win at Warner Pacific Sunday with a pair of second-half goals.

Callie Wright scored with an assist from Anna Lau in the 68th minute for the game winner.

Sarah Hommas scored on a wild exchange in the 80th minute. Hommas put a shot off the post, and 17 seconds later, Wright was just off the mark, putting a shot off the crossbar. Hommas scored 12 seconds later for the 2-0 lead.

"We did enough to get the shutout and the win, but collectively, we are not overly pleased with the performance," said NU Head Coach Bryan Chud. "Tomorrow I am expecting us to respond and for us to be much better in every area."

NU had 18 shots and put nine shots on goal for the day. Wright and Hommas had seven shots each. Wright put five shots on goal to lead the Eagles, followed by Hommas with three and Olivia Morris with one.

Kierstin Patefield picked up her third consecutive shutout in goal, collecting four saves along the way.

The same two teams meet Monday at 2 p.m. to close out the series in Portland.
