Eagles Blow Past Beacons Late for 5-2 Win

EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest took Bushnell's best shot but unleashed with four goals in the final 16 minutes for a 5-2 win Monday.

Elliot Misic opened the scoreboard with a penalty kick in the 14th minute, and the Eagles took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

Bushnell, celebrating Senior Day, tied the game in the 50th minute on a goal by Ethan Crofts and took their second lead of the season on a Kyle Aure goal in the 70th minute. Then the Eagles took over.

Gian Herrera's shot was deflected by the Bushnell keeper, but Titus Nickson got the rebound and the equalizer in the 75th minute. Dylan Murphy got the assist.

Kyle Han ripped in a shot from 35 yards out for the game-winning goal in the 78th minute, but the Eagles weren't done.

Benjamin Banks-Forder added a goal 41 seconds later for a 4-2 lead.

Banks-Forder's shot with 9:33 left was turned away but resulted in a corner kick. Leon Bormann's service from the corner was headed in by Nickson with 8:54 to go for the final margin.

"We needed to capitalize on our chances in the first half to make things easier on us," said NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "We also did not play our game. In the second half, we struggled early on with tired legs and allowed Bushnell in the game with two goals. Our response was outstanding. We played how we wanted to in the last 17 minutes, and the result was four great goals. I'm pleased with how we finished the game."

Northwest put 13 of its 16 shots on goal. Nickson had four shots and put three on frame. Han had three shots and two shots on goal. Banks-Forder had a pair of shots on goal, while Brayden Corwin, Herrera, Bormann, Tyler Hopp, Noah Prophet, and Misic tested the Beacons' keeper once each.

Brandon Karberg got the win in goal, picking up three saves.

The Eagles get back to action next week with a Monday-Tuesday set with Oregon Tech in Kirkland.
