Eagles Outlast Loggers for Overtime Win

TACOMA – Northwest claimed a 4-3 overtime win at Puget Sound Wednesday, ending the game in the 93rd minute on an Elliot Misic penalty kick.

Puget Sound never led but answered every Northwest goal in regulation.

"I am, overall, pleased with how we played today," said NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "We started the game the way we wanted too and we found the first goal. I did not like how we allowed them back in the game but we showed some grit today coming from back three times which was good to see us do. Overtime was a good challenge for us to see what we had left in the tank and how bad we wanted to win. The team play and effort today were good. We will now look at the game video and work on correcting the mistakes we made."

Brayden Corwin and Misic each had a goal and an assist. Corwin scored the opening goal, ripping home a pass from Misic in the sixth minute.

UPS tied the game in the 18th minute on a goal by Cale Spence.

Corwin got an assist as Titus Nickson headed home a goal from inside the box in the 24th minute.

Marko Babiak knotted the score for the Loggers in the 39th minute and the teams went to the half deadlocked at 2-2.

Jacob Moon headed home a corner kick by Angel Trejo-Delgado in the 66th minute for a 3-2 Northwest lead.

Graham Hall got the equalizer in the 87th minute, sending the match to overtime.

A foul called on a UPS midfielder set the Eagles up for Misic's game-winner with just under three minutes off the overtime clock.

Northwest outshot their hosts 11-6, led by Misic and Corwin with three shots each. NU collected nine shots on goal. Corwin tested the UPS keeper three times and Nickson and Misic added two shots on goal each. Kyle Han and Moon accounted for the other two shots on goal.

Alexander Thiehofe got the win, collecting one save along the way.

The Eagles, now 3-1, host Linfield at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
