SALEM, Ore. – Northwest came up just short in a 72-68 loss at Corban Saturday evening.
Â
The Eagles were able to tie the game late, 65-65, on a
Devante Powell three-pointer with 2:32 to play. Northwest had trailed 65-58 before getting baskets by
Rayvaughn Bolton and
Trevan Newman ahead of Powell's equalizer.
Â
From there, the Eagles struggled, going one-for-five from the field and missing a free throw.
Â
"We played about as good as we can and came up short," said NU Head Coach
Jeff Drinkwine. "Tight games always come down to a few possessions. This game was no different. We have to have a short memory and get ready for two home games next week."
Â
Bolton led the Eagles with 12 points, followed by Newman with 11 and Powell with 10. Bolton also hauled in eight rebounds.
Jason Brown Jr. paced the Eagles with five assists.
Â
Northwest gets a COVID-related forfeit win over Bushnell and heads back home at 6-8 overall and 3-6 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Eagles host Eastern Oregon Friday and the College of Idaho on Saturday.
