Eagles Fall in Five at Southern Oregon

ASHLAND - Northwest's frustration with five-set matches continued on Friday as the Eagles lost 3-2 at Southern Oregon.

NU dropped to 0-6 in five-set matches. SOU won 25-22, 23-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-13.

"Disappointing outcome for our ladies but still an exciting match to be a part of," said NU Head Coach Steven Bain. "Both teams played with terrific energy tonight, which was not surprising given how important this match was for post-season aspirations. We just came up short in the fifth set against a team that made more plays than we did when the match was on the line. Need to learn from this and prepare for another tough opponent tomorrow."

Abigail Broussard led NU with 16 kills with Kaitlyn Mickle and Susana Bailey adding 12 and 10 respectively.

Morgan Harter had 23 assists and Anna Saelen had 19.

The Eagles served 15 aces, led by Harter with six, Reece Denney with four and Broussard with three.

Kelsey Moore had 29 digs and Denney added 10. Kylie Lunday had six blocks, Delaney Sparks added four and Broussard knocked down three.

Now 12-11 overall and 8-7 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles play at Oregon Tech at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
