Lewis-Clark State Tops Eagles in Four

KIRKLAND – Lewis-Clark State avenged an earlier loss to Northwest with a 3-1 victory in the Kristi Brodin Pavilion on Friday, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17.

Abigail Broussard posted 16 kills to lead the Eagles, with Delaney Sparks and Susana Bailey adding 11 and 10, respectively. Anna Saelens had 21 assists, and Morgan Harter collected 17.

Northwest had eight aces, led by Broussard with three and Harter and Caitlyn James with two each.

Kelsey Moore paced NU's back row with 22 digs. Northwest had 10 blocks, with Kalli Budge assisting on three.

"Very impressed with LCSC's play tonight," said NU Head Coach Steven Bain. "They played clean and were able to frustrate us with their serving and defense. Credit our ladies too, though, because nagging injuries led to some challenging adjustments to our line-up, but I was proud of how we handled the changes. The best thing about this group, though, is their growth mindset, and I know they will bounce back and play hard the next time they take the court."

Cassidy Nelson led the Warriors with 17 kills, while Grecia Ung Enriquez added 13 and Lisi Langi 10. Jennah Carpenter had 24 assists, and Esther Kalliponi threw in 23.

LCSC had seven aces, led by Kenzie Dean with three.

Dean led the Warriors with 21 digs, and Langi was in on four blocks.

With the loss, Northwest dips to 12-13 on the season and 8-9 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

The Eagles host Walla Walla in an 8 p.m. match on Saturday.
