KIRKLAND – Northwest opened its women's basketball season with a 77-49 loss to William Jessup on Friday in the Cascade Classic.
Northwest kept pace until late in the second quarter when the Warriors went on a 10-0 run to build a 39-28 advantage. WJU led 43-34 at the half.
Jessup outscored NU 34-15 in the second half.
"That was a rough start, but we learned some basketball lessons tonight," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "One of the good things about playing basketball, though, is that you get a chance to come back in less than 24 hours and try it again."
Kyrin Baklund and Kinslee Gallatin led the Eagles with nine points each, with Katie Fleming getting eight to go with four assists. Maya DuChesne had seven points and a team-leading six rebounds.
Makaila Napoleon led WJU with 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles wrap up the Classic Saturday at 5 p.m., taking on Pacific Lutheran.
