NU Tops EOU in CCC Semifinals, 1-0, in OT

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – It took two overtime periods, but No. 25 Northwest avenged its only loss of the season with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Oregon in the semifinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships on Wednesday.

Anna Lau put home the only goal of the game in the 103rd minute, moments after a corner kick by Maya Lewis.

Lau has now scored both postseason goals for the Eagles. She got the game winner on Tuesday against Rocky Mountain.

Northwest plays the College of Idaho for the tournament championship at noon on Friday.

"This team is resilient, and I am proud of the way they approached and played today," said NU Interim Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "The drive and grit this team played with today were what was needed to win the game. Eastern is a good team, and they pushed us today. Again, the defense stepped up to earn another shutout. It did not matter who we called on today, everybody stepped up and contributed. Tomorrow will be a nice day of rest, and we will be ready for Friday's game."

Regulation time expired with both teams having opportunities to score. NU's Hanne Breur picked up six saves in the first 90 minutes. Madeline Baker turned away two shots on goal by Liv Lagerquist and one each by Olivia Morris, Kayla Soderstrom, and Claire Jo Diede.

Lagerquist had a header opportunity in the first minute of the first overtime off of a corner kick by Olivia Morris, but Barker was able to gather in the shot.

Elizabeth Moretti had a header corralled for a save by Baker in the first minute of the second overtime.

EOU had no shots on goal in the overtime periods.

NU finished with 16 shots, led by Moretti with five and Lagerquist with three. Morris, Diede, and Gracie VanAssche had two each. Lagerquist had two shots on goal, with Lau, Morris, Moretti, Soderstrom, and VanAssche getting one each.

The win gives NU a school-record 16 victories and a 16-1-2 record.
