PORTLAND – Northwest improved to 2-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with its second road win in Portland this weekend, 3-0, at Warner Pacific.

The Eagles took care of business, 25-12, 25-12, 25-17.

Reece Denney and
Kylie Lunday led NU with five kills apiece, with
Abigail Broussard and
Delaney Sparks contributing four each.
Morgan Harter had 10 assists. NU posted nine aces in the match, led by
Caitlyn James with four, with Broussard and
Kelsey Moore adding two each.

Moore had 11 digs, and James added nine. Sparks had a big day at the net with four solo blocks and three block assists. Broussard was in on three blocks.

"We had a good approach to tonight's match and we able to execute from the service line, which kept Warner out of system," said NU Head Coach Steven Bain. "As a result, we were able to score points in all six rotations and control the match. Overall pleased with the effort we brought to the court tonight and looking forward to the first home matches of the 2022 season."

NU used an 8-0 run to gain control in the first set. That spree included two aces by Moore and two Sparks blocks. Sparks ended the set with a kill.

The Eagles closed out the second set with a 9-1 rally that included two kills and a block by Lunday.

Down 12-9 in the third set, Northwest scored nine points in a row during a 12-1 run to take over. James had two aces, and Sparks added three blocks in the run.
Kaitlyn Mickle closed out the match with a kill.

Northwest plays its first home match of the season at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, hosting Evergreen State.
