LA GRANDE, Ore. — Northwest started strong but couldn't hold off Eastern Oregon, falling 85-67 on Friday.
The Eagles led 18-17 after the first quarter but the Mounties responded with a 24-point second quarter.
"A tough physical game for 40 minutes tonight. Eastern Oregon did what they do well which is to get a couple of runs during the game that puts the score out of reach," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "We learn, we regroup, and get ready to play college of Idaho tomorrow. I know we continue to learn. We need to get some pay off for our efforts!"
Maya DuChesne led NU with 17 points, followed by Kyrin Baklund with 12 and Kylie Lunday with 10.
Lunday added nine rebounds and two steals. Katie Fleming was solid with eight points, seven rebounds and five assists.
NU returns to action Saturday, visiting College of Idaho at 2 p.m. Pacific.
