Eagles Leave Oregon Empty Handed: 0-3

ASHLAND, OR - A tough hitting night sends the Northwest University women's volleyball team home 0-2 for the weekend. The Eagle's .010 kill percentage dug them too deep of a hole to keep up with No. 16 in the nation, Southern Oregon University. The Raiders escaped from the Eagles 25-17, 25-14, 25-14.

The Raiders pulled away midway through the first set going on a 13-5 run. The Eagles quickly responded with an 8-3 run of their own, led by two blocks assisted by Kalli Budge. With the Eagles trailing 17-21, SOU put together four points in a row to secure the first set win.

NU scored the first three points of the second set but struggled to get over the net, resulting in six consecutive Raider points and a 9-6 SOU lead. The Eagles stayed alive but a 8-1 Raider run ended the set 25-14.

A familiar start in the third set issued three points for the Eagles, followed by one too many errors. The Raiders forced an NU timeout as they led 7-3. Eagle attacks continued to miss fire and the Raiders took the third and final set at 24-14.

Head Coach Steve Bain says, "Southern played hard with terrific anticipation and energy that we could not match. We need to reset as we head into the final two matches of the season and prepare for playoffs. We are well aware that the main obstacle we face heading into the playoffs is adapting and performing at a high level when match conditions and situations are uncomfortable. We believe this group is up to the task and they are anxious to do the hard work that will make them better the next time they take the court."

Karste Wright led with eight kills for the Eagles.

Morgan Harter collected 12 assists and Allie Flynn had 10.

Kelsey Moore totaled 18 digs.

The Eagles have just under a week until they wrap up regular-season play. NU hosts it's senior weekend starting on November, 3 at 7 p.m. against Multnomah.
