KIRKLAND, WA - Northwest battled against a tough Oregon Tech squad that was able to outscore the Eagles, 68-79.
Â
The Eagles and Owls went back and forth with neither team expanding on the lead by much in the beginning of the first half. With five minutes to go until halftime, OIT began to pull away slightly and give itself a cushion of eight points.Â
Â
Northwest kept fighting and was able to keep Oregon Tech in its sights as the second half was under way. While the Eagles could get some momentum, OIT was able to keep NU at bay and not give up the lead at all in the second half.Â
Â
Milton Burnett led the Eagles with 14 points and six rebounds, while
Luke Howard and
Lewis Pope each took home 11 points.Â
Â
"I thought our men fought very hard against a very good team tonight," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We have to learn to defend without fouling, as we put OIT on the line 39 times. We can't guard the free throw line, and we made everything else very tough tonight."
Â
The Eagles will host Southern Oregon at 5 p.m. on Saturday.Â
