NU Gets First CCC Win: 87-76

KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles earned their first conference win of the 2023-24 season, edging out the Geoducks, 87-76.

Northwest and Evergreen State traded shots at the start of the game. While Evergreen continued to put pressure on the Eagles, Northwest was able to get the lead and keep the lead going into the half.

The Eagles continued to find the basket as they stretched their lead to 11 with 9:47 left to play. While the Geoducks continued to push and cut the lead down to four with 2:59 left, the Eagles never gave up the lead. Northwest went on to close out the game, outscoring Evergreen State 9-2 in the last two minutes.

"I was really proud of the way we shared the ball tonight," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "The work our guys put in this week paid off as we got better shots. We had a season high 14 assists, and we shot almost 48%, also a season high.  It was a great team win; twelve guys played, and twelve guys contributed."

The Eagles had three players in double figures. Manuel Zapater led with 18 points, with Lewis Pope getting 17 and Milton Burnett getting 14. Caleb Whalen came away with 10 rebounds.

Northwest will host Oregon Tech on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
