LINCOLN, Calif. – Northwest ran into a couple of strong pitching performances in losing 6-0 to Hope International and 8-2 to Jessup on Saturday.

Sydney Maurer double.

NU fell behind Jessup early, 3-0, and scored both of its runs in the second inning on RBI grounders by
Jamelah Lewis and
Chloe Van Boekhout.

The Eagles were checked on three hits – singles by
Emily Barry,
Paige Creasey and
Olivia Brown.

"The HIU pitcher might be the best pitcher we see this season," said NU Head Coach Pam Fink. "Still, you want to respond better than one hit. We'll go back to work next week and try to be ready for Warner Pac next weekend."

The 5-4 Eagles open Cascade Collegiate Conference play at home against Warner Pacific Friday and Saturday with doubleheaders starting at 1 p.m. and noon, respectively.
