FULLERTON, CA - Northwest University women's volleyball wastes no time against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, defeating them in three sets on day two of Summer Slam, 25-7, 25-9, 25-19.
The Eagles seized control of being the attacking team throughout all three sets. Three out of the last four points of the first set were kills by Kaitlyn Mickle from Allie Flynn.
NU continued the same attacking energy in the second set. Kylie Lunday and Karste Wright kept the Eutectic's from reaching double digits with a pair of blocks near the end of the set.
A few errors in set three let the Eutectics in but not enough to keep the Eagles from the match win.
Allie Flynn had a notable 22 assists in the match, a career high.Â
This morning's kill leaders were Delaney Sparks (11) and Kailtyn Mickle (9).
Kelsey Moore led the back row with 11 digs followed by Savannah Hale, Ellie Van Berkum and Morgan Harter each with six.
Head Coach Steve Bain says, ""Though the match seemed lopsided, our team was impressed by the effort and energy with which UHSP played the match. It motivated our group to match their intensity with a quality effort of their own and we were able to control the match with a strong serving and passing game."
The ladies play in their last match of Summer Slam today at 2pm against Hope International.
