Eagles Lose Winning Streak: 0-3

SALEM, OR - The Eagles fell to #5 ranked Corban University tonight, ending their five game winning streak. Corban took the match in three sets, 25-16, 25-12, 25-19.

Northwest stayed tight with Corban early in the first set, until the Eagles found themselves stuck at six points while the Warriors pulled away. A pair of kills from Kaitlyn Mickle and a couple aces dealt by Morgan Harter snuck the Eagles back in at 14-17. The momentum from the Eagles quickly flattened and the Warriors took the set 25-16.

The Warriors continued the attack in the second frame as the Eagles struggled to find kills.

The Eagles took their largest lead of the night in the third set at 10-4. The Warriors fought back to tie the frame at 12-12 and eventually pulling away enough to take the match in three.

Kaitlyn Mickle recorded 12 kills, Kylie Lunday and Susanna Bailey each had five. Kalli Budge totaled three blocks.

Head Coach Steve Bain says, "We knew going into the match we would be facing one of the top NAIA teams in the country and Corban lived up to their ranking.  We simply weren't good enough with first contacts and when the rallies went into transition we were continually behind in the point. Still, even though we were outplayed, we learned from this match and hopefully we can build on the positives as we face another quality opponent tomorrow."

Volleyball continues the weekend against the Bushnell Beacons tomorrow at 5 pm.
