Great Falls, MT - The Eagles men's soccer team defeat the Argos, 3-1, in Montana.
After a rough outing against the Saints last game, the Eagles rebounded by playing hard and aggressive, accumulating 19 fouls as well as yellow cards to Joao Fonsesca in the first half and Julian Desmond in the second. Even with the aggressive play, the Eagles showed up to play.
Continuing his impressive season, forward Matthew Ludlow opened the scoring for NU in the 27th minute with a strong finish. However not even a minute later, the Argos responded with a goal of their own from midfielder Tomeu Nebot-Schmalfe. Closer to the end of the first half, captain Joao Fonsesca found the back of the net, followed immediately by the yellow card.
The final goal of the game wouldn't come until the 81st minute off the boot of midfielder Max Kozorezov, who continues to build on his junior campaign.
"I'm proud of the guys today," said Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "This was a very good win for us, one we desperately needed. The team gave it their all and created several good opportunities to score, and three went in. Matt Ludlow continues to put in strong performances as rewarded with the first goal. It was great to see João and Max get goals as well. Overall, this was a very good team victory on a long road trip. We are looking forward to getting back home and finishing out the season with two home games and a chance to honor the seniors."
