KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles took on No. 3 College of Idaho as they honored four seniors tonight. In a fast-paced game, Northwest gave the Yotes a run but ultimately fell short, 73-85.
In an energetic first half, the Eagles were right there with the Yotes as the two teams traded the lead. As the first 20 minutes of action came to a close, the Eagles showed the Yotes that this was not going to be an easy game.
College of Idaho had a strong start to the second half as it was able to gain the lead and create a small cushion. Northwest continued to push forward and forced the Yotes to keep scoring to maintain their lead. Ultimately, the Yotes created a large enough lead that the Eagles ran out of time to make a comeback.
"I thought our guys followed up our best effort of the season with another very good effort," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "Turnovers and offensive rebounds ended up being the difference, but I was so proud of how hard we competed. It was fun to celebrate four special seniors tonight. We have a tough road test next week; if we want to get into the playoffs, we will have to find a way to win."
Luke Howard brought home a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
Lewis Pope knocked down 13, and
Nash Wobrock contributed 11.
Northwest has one weekend left as the race for the final spot in playoffs is up for grabs. The Eagles will face Multnomah on Friday and Warner Pacific on Saturday.
