Northwest University is proud to see the Women's Volleyball team honored with the Conference Commissioners National Award for the NAIA Champions of Character for the 2023-24 year. This prestigious award is given annually to one men's and one women's team per year for their character on the court, on campus, and in the community.

"Proud of Coach Bain and his team," said Athletic Director Gary McIntosh. "Steve has such a servant heart, and it shines through his coaching and team. I'm thankful the Lord has placed Coach Bain as the coach of the volleyball team. He is teaching his team how to lead, serve, and have all the tools they need for life."

The volleyball team traveled to the Yucatan in the spring of 2024 as part of a mission trip with
Yucatan Helping Hands. There, they helped construct a water plant designed to provide a sustainable supply of ocean water to the surrounding community. The team also led youth sports camps during their time that helped create community and lasting memories for the kids of the Chalmuch community.Â

NU Head Coach Steve Bain shares, "The NU Volleyball program and I are both honored and humbled to be recognized for this honor as it reflects everything that we strive for as players and people. It is also true that a National Award such as this does not arise from a single event or one group of people but rather represents the mission of a program that strives to be the very best we can be, not just as athletes, but as students and people of faith. As such, it is an honor not only for the current members of the program, but it is also shared with all of the former Eagles who laid the foundation for this achievement."
