NU Wins with Last Second Goal

LA GRANDE, OR - The Northwest University women's soccer team won their first conference game of the season, beating Eastern Oregon University, 1-0.

The game was a back-and-forth battle between both teams for the entire 90 minutes. The Mountaineers outshot NU 17-6. The game was scoreless until the last three seconds of the game when Eastern committed a foul to give NU a free kick within shooting distance. Alivia Berry stepped up to take the shot and scored over the keeper as time ran off the clock.

The Eagles' back line was solid all night, with goalkeeper Katie Snow coming up with 7 saves.

Head Coach April VanAssche commented, "I'm so proud of how the team played today! They gritted it out for 90 minutes to get the last-second win! This was a great team win for us, and we feel very blessed to be going home with a win this weekend!"
