KIRKLAND, WA - Northwest closes out the weekend with a sweep of the Multnomah Lions, 3-0.
Northwest got off to a strong start as it established a rhythm early in the first set that propelled the team to take the lead. In the second set, the Lions showed they were not going to go away quietly and forced the Eagles to make plays. In a back-and-forth set, NU pulled away at the end to get a 2-0 lead. That momentum carried into the third set, and the Eagles were able to come away with the weekend victory.
"Impressed with how much effort and energy that Multnomah brought to the match," said Head Coach Steve Bain. "They challenged us to extend rallies and remain patient, which is a lesson that we are still trying to learn. But as is usually the case, first contacts are the key to most matches, and when we were able to apply pressure with our serve, it allowed us to stay ahead in the points and score at a consistent level."
Kalli Budge led the team with eight kills.
