Walla Walla, WA - The Northwest men's basketball team snap an eight game losing streak against Walla Walla 92-73.
The Eagles and Wolves had to move to Whitman College, which was the least of their concerns going into this matchup. Both teams were staring down massive losing streaks with their most recent losses coming against Corban and Southern Oregon respectively, and both teams were looking to find ways out of their funk.
The Eagles answered the call by splashing a season high of 92 points; 49 of those came in the first half. The Eagles offense danced in the first, putting up 57.1% in shots and the same percentage showed up in their three-pointers. The Eagles also had a spectacular performance with 20 assists. The Wolves struggled to keep up, shooting for 41.4% and only 1-5 of their threes.
It was a much tighter second half, especially with the Wolves netting 44.1% and 67% of their threes, but the Eagles had an encore. Tallying 22 rebounds and scoring half of their shots, the Eagles offense shined and were able to seal the game for a massive win and newfound optimism.
Nash Wobrock dazzled with 22 points on the afternoon and Ethan Martin followed suit with 20 points. Soren Dalan of the Wolves was able to score a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
"Great team win with contributions from the whole team," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "20 assists is a season high. Guys really shared the ball and created great shots for each other. Our bigs gave a gutty effort against a really good double double big. It was also great to see the guys break out of the shooting funk."
