Eagles Defense Shines in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Northwest finished day two up in Alaska as they took on the University of Alaska Anchorage for the second day in a row. Despite another defensive stand, the Eagles fell short, 71-52.

The Eagles ended up down by 12 going into the half after struggling to find the basket for the first 20 minutes. Northwest's defense kept them in the game as they forced 16 turnovers and had 11 steals on the night.

Christian Watkins led the Eagles with 13 points and five steals. Andrew Iyamah had himself a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

"Another very good defensive effort," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We just couldn't hit a shot. Great experience and we got better this weekend."

Northwest heads into the Thanksgiving break and will open up conference play as they head to Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech the first weekend of December.
