Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

NU Comes Up Short in Late Push Against COI

Northwest University nearly pulled off an upset of College of Idaho in the final minutes of a hard-fought contest, but the Eagles ultimately fell 73–70. NU had multiple chances to tie—and even take the lead—down the stretch.

The Eagles trailed by 12 at halftime as COI shot efficiently and applied tough defensive pressure. After the break, Northwest came alive from beyond the arc, shooting 54% from three-point range in the second half. NU also turned up the intensity on the boards and played tight, physical defense, making things difficult for COI throughout the final 20 minutes.

Logan Stempniak led all scorers with 33 points and added four rebounds. Chris Watkins contributed a strong all-around performance with nine points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, while CJ Bayak chipped in nine points and six boards. COI was led by Chance Winters, who finished with 16 points.

Despite the strong second-half effort, the Eagles dropped to 0–4 in conference play. Northwest will look to bounce back on the road Monday, December 22, when they face Montana State University in Montana.

After the game, Coach Skeen said, "I'm proud of how our guys stuck together and kept fighting tonight. We played much harder and more connected tonight, and that was our goal."
