CALDWELL, ID - The Northwest women's basketball team falter in the second quarter to lose to the College of Idaho 85-62.
The Eagles traveled east to the newly christened Elgin Baylor Arena after a fourth quarter comeback came up short against Eastern Oregon last night. Their final opponents of the season, the Yotes, came into this game on a torrent four-game win streak that'll see them into the playoffs.
The game started out dead even with both squads putting up 19 points in the first with the Eagles having the edge in three-pointers and free throws. However the Eagles struggled on both sides of the ball in the second quarter. The Yotes drilled 28 points and hit 55% of their total shots while the Eagles only scored nine points and shot for 23.5%.
The rest of the game played out in the Yotes favor. The Yotes totaled 48.3% and went 40% from beyond the three-point line. It was enough to outlast the Eagles as their offense struggled to take off.
Saydee Anderson had an unbelievable afternoon splashing 22 points while Kaleah Medeiros and Rachel Snow both tallied eight points. Kimberly Carrada Sanchez finished the season with the most points on the team with 365 points averaging 14 points a game.
"Proud of effort today in what has been a season of growth and improvement with a really young roster," said Head Coach Randall Edens. "Eight wins including an exhibition win and while we had stretches where we were humbled in the early season, the second half of the season, we were competitive in every game and had some significant wins late to help us build some momentum for the year ahead. Can't wait to tip here in late 2025."
