PORTLAND, Ore. - The Northwest University volleyball team delivers a sweep to Warner Pacific on Thursday night in Portland.
The Eagles had to quickly shift their focus after a sweep against Evergreen State College at home. Meanwhile, the Knights have been swept three games in a row against the conference's best with their last loss coming against Oregon Tech.
The Eagles dominated the first set, starting off with a 6-2 lead. After two more points scored by the Knights to make it 6-4, the Eagles went on an eight-point streak to launch themselves out of harm's way. The Eagles held the Knights to only seven points in the set while the Eagles soared to the win.
The second set was all Eagles from the very start. After jumping out to a 3-1 lead, the Eagles mashed 13 straight points led by server Morgan Harter to overwhelm the home squad 16-1. The Knights stopped the bleeding by stringing together 11 more points, which included a four point streak in the dying moments of the set, but the Eagles returned the favor with a three-point rally to win the set 25-12.
The final set in its infancy was close, but the Eagles quickly managed the court after a 6-1 run to go up 13-5. Later on, the Eagles rallied a quick four-point run to go up 21-9. The Knights would score three more points before the Eagles closed out the set and the match 25-12
The Eagles will get to rest this weekend and will gear up for a return home against Southern Oregon on Friday, October 3rd at 6:00 PM.
