SALEM, Ore. — The Northwest University women's basketball team saw its season come to a close Friday night with a 75-63 loss to Corban University in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament Quarterfinals at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
Northwest (10-19) led 20-19 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 41-34 at halftime. The Eagles shot 50 percent in the opening period and 52.9 percent in the second, building a seven-point advantage behind balanced scoring.
Kaleah Medeiros led Northwest with 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting, adding five rebounds, one assist, one block, and two steals in 38 minutes. Ellie Bost followed with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Ella Whitaker contributed nine points and six rebounds.
Northwest shot 40.9 percent overall from the field (27-of-66) and finished with 36 total rebounds.
Corban (24-5) responded in the third quarter, outscoring Northwest 20-5. After trailing 41-34 at the break, the Warriors opened the second half with a 7-0 run and later took a 46-41 lead on a three-pointer at the 3:02 mark. Corban carried a 54-46 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Northwest closed the gap to four points midway through the final period, but Corban converted 22-of-27 free throws throughout the game to secure the win.
The Eagles battled all season and secured a spot in the CCC Tournament to close out the year. It was a great season for Northwest women's basketball, and we thank our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters for their commitment and dedication.
