LEWISTON, Idaho – Northwest University women's volleyball fell 3-0 to Lewis-Clark State on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the P1FCU Activity Center. The Eagles dropped the three sets 25-16, 25-20 and 25-23.
Northwest battled throughout the match, finishing with 37 kills on 114 attacks for a .219 hitting percentage. The Eagles recorded 33 assists, five service aces and 39 digs.
Jaelyn Moeva and Teagan Schroeder led the Eagles with nine kills each. Moeva hit .391 on 23 attacks and added one service ace, while Schroeder hit .304 and recorded a block assist. Haylee Koetje finished with eight kills, five digs and two service aces.
Katelyn Bogetti directed the Northwest offense with 29 assists and added four kills and five digs. Chloe Kennedy contributed four kills and four digs, while Trinity Godina recorded three kills, four digs and a service ace.
After Lewis-Clark State took the first two sets, Northwest put together its strongest offensive performance of the match in the third. The Eagles recorded 18 kills on 38 attacks for a .368 hitting percentage and battled back from a 17-12 deficit to tie the set at 18-18. Lewis-Clark State regained the lead late and closed out the set 25-23.
"We played an excellent LCSC team tonight, and the story of the match was our inability to counter their offensive firepower," said head coach Steven Bain. "That shortcoming is a reminder of the upgrades we must make in order to improve our results, and I am confident that our ladies will learn from the experience."
Northwest returns home for its next match on Wednesday, Sept. 23, hosting The Evergreen State College at 6 p.m.
